Your first step into health innovation

Turn your idea into action.

Origin Australia equips emerging founders with the clarity, skills and confidence to begin their journey in health innovation. With expert guidance and a supportive peer network, you will test assumptions, refine your concept, strengthen your team, and understand how health ventures are built within Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

Through practical workshops and immersive bootcamps, you will validate your idea, develop its commercial potential, and prepare to pitch to industry experts. The top team will receive cash and in-kind prizes, with the winner progressing to international opportunities, including the Global Pitch Showdown and a Japanese Immersion experience.

A two-phase journey

Phase 1: Pitch bootcamp

Build confidence, challenge assumptions, and learn to communicate your innovation. Over two in-person days, participants cover pitching, IP, regulation, customer validation, product strategy, and market analysis, alongside networking and founder insights.

Phase 2: Venture bootcamp

Take your venture further. Participants refine problem-solution fit, strengthen their commercial narrative, and develop their pathway to market, culminating in the Semi-final and selection for the final at the Origin Australia Demo Day.

Who should apply

Origin Australia is open to individuals and teams across Australia with innovative health-related ideas, research projects, or early-stage startups.

Whether you are a clinician addressing a need, a researcher with promising data, an engineer building a prototype, or an aspiring founder, this program offers a clear pathway into health entrepreneurship.

You are a strong fit if you:

Have an idea, project, or early-stage startup in MedTech, BioTech, or Health Tech

Are based in Australia or building for the Australian healthcare ecosystem

Have early evidence of feasibility, or are ready to develop your idea

Can commit to attending key program activities, including in-person sessions

Entrance pathways

How to apply

Applications are expected to open from late April to early June 2026.

Applicants complete a written submission and short video. Shortlisted teams are invited to onboarding and early workshops, then progress through the Pitch Bootcamp, Venture Bootcamp, Semi-final, and final at Demo Day, where they pitch to judges and industry leaders.
